Plot summary
Bianca, Gabriel and their colleague Professor Jonathan Hoffman camp in the woods outside a small New York town, looking into a series of wildlife killings. Bianca wonders whether a recent earthquake is connected. Hoffman and Gabriel find a mutilated deer, and back at camp Bianca has found a hole in the ground. The three conclude that something prehistoric, trapped in the ice for ages, was released by the quake and is preying on the animals. Twelve years on, the snow shark has become a local legend. After two residents are killed, Mayor Shawn Overman and Sheriff Donald Chapman call a town meeting. Mike Evans, a resident who years earlier claimed he had killed the creature, sets out after it despite the sheriff's warnings.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Production began in early 2011 with director Sam Qualiana having created the film's title, poster and a teaser trailer before he had finalized the script.
- Aside from onscreen blood, the visual effects were made without computer-generated imagery, and John Renna, who portrays Ethan, constructed a full-size shark head to use during filming.
- Scenes were shot at weekends to beat the melting spring snow, and Qualiana said they canceled some shoots because of warm weather and managed some cutaways outside with fake snow.
