Plot summary
Two French air force pilots, Antoine "Walk'n" Marchelli and Sébastien "Fahrenheit" Vallois, are ordered to escort a Mirage 2000-10 that a rogue group has seized at the Farnborough Airshow after killing its pilot. The rogue pilot hides under an Airbus A340 and tries to fire a missile at Vallois, and Marchelli shoots the Mirage down. A court-martial convicts Marchelli of destroying the jet without provocation, and the air force discharges him; Vallois resigns in protest. A department called Special Missions offers to get them back into service if they fly a Cannonball run across hostile ground to reach the Horn of Africa, part of an effort to sell the Mirage to a buyer in Asia. Both men agree.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Sky Fighters (2005)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Les Chevaliers du Ciel was shot with the co-operation of the French Air Force, whose safety rules were eventually relaxed until jets could fly as low as 3 m (10 ft) and pass within 1 m (3 ft) of each other.
- The aerial sequences were filmed from the air by Eric Magnan: an external fuel tank on a Mirage was modified to hold multiple cameras, an HD camera having been rejected because it did not fit, and tracking shots were flown from a hired Lear Jet.
- Since jet aircraft are not allowed to fly over Paris, all the Paris filming had to be done on the actual Bastille Day, 14 July, for which the crew obtained special permission.
