Robert Ginty

American actor Robert Ginty, born in Brooklyn, New York, trained at Yale University and appeared in regional theater before moving to Hollywood in the mid-1970s. He took supporting roles on television and in films, including a recurring part on The Paper Chase and Hal Ashby's Coming Home (1978). His breakthrough came with James Glickenhaus's vigilante film The Exterminator (1980), a box office success that made him an action lead. He later starred in Exterminator 2 (1984) and Programmed to Kill (1987), and appeared in Loverboy (1989), Madhouse (1990), and Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (1991). He directed and starred in The Bounty Hunter (1989), Vietnam, Texas (1990), and Lady Dragon (1992). He went on to direct episodes of China Beach, Xena: Warrior Princess, Nash Bridges, and Charmed. In his last years he directed theater in Canada, France, Ireland, and Italy and held an artist residency at Harvard University. He died in 2009.
