Biography

Rivers Cuomo is an American musician who sings lead vocals and plays lead guitar in the rock band Weezer, which he formed in 1992 with Patrick Wilson, Matt Sharp and Jason Cropper after playing in bands in Connecticut and California. Born in New York City and raised in the Northeast until his family settled in Pomfret, Connecticut, he wrote the material that became Weezer's self-titled debut, the Blue Album (1994). Its follow-up, Pinkerton (1996), was at first a commercial and critical failure and later earned acclaim. He graduated from Harvard University in 2006. He has released solo demo collections including Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo (2007) and two Japanese-language albums with Scott Murphy as Scott & Rivers, and he co-wrote AJR's Sober Up, which hit number one on Billboard's alternative chart, along with the theme for the Netflix series Green Eggs and Ham.
