Lois Collier
Biography
Lois Collier was an American actress who began her screen career as a model in the 1935 romantic comedy Women Must Dress and was sometimes billed as Lois Collyer. Born in Salley, South Carolina, she attended Limestone College in Gaffney. During the 1940s she was active in B-movies, usually as a heroine, often appearing opposite western players Bob Steele, Tom Tyler and Dennis Moore. Her best known film was probably A Night in Casablanca (1946), in which she appeared with the Marx Brothers. Republic Pictures cast her as the female lead in seven Three Mesquiteers features, earning her the nickname the Fourth Mesquiteer. In 1950 she had the lead in the science fiction serial The Flying Disc Man from Mars. On radio, she played Carol on the CBS soap opera Dear John, and on television she co-starred in the 1949 newspaper drama City Desk before playing Mary in 58 episodes of Boston Blackie. She left acting after 1957.
