Jane Wyman
Biography
Jane Wyman was an American actress whose film and television career spanned roughly six decades. Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, she started as a chorus dancer and extra before signing a contract with Warner Bros. in 1936 and moving from bit parts into supporting roles. She became a leading star with films such as The Lost Weekend (1945), The Yearling (1946), and Johnny Belinda (1948), winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for the last. Other notable credits included Stage Fright (1950), Magnificent Obsession (1954), and All That Heaven Allows (1955). She later hosted and produced her own television anthology, The Jane Wyman Show, and returned to prominence as Angela Channing on Falcon Crest, winning a Golden Globe in 1984. She retired from acting in 1993 and died in 2007.

Behind the camera
In 1955, Wyman moved into television and started her own company, Lewman Productions Ltd., which she co-owned with MCA Inc. She also became producer and host of NBC's Fireside Theatre, and often starred in its final three seasons.
