Ed Lover

Ed Lover, born James Roberts in Queens, is an American disc jockey, actor, musician and radio personality who was among MTV's first VJ hosts, on Yo! MTV Raps alongside Doctor Dré and Fab 5 Freddy. He hosted influential music programs, including a morning show on the Chicago hip-hop station WBMX until 2022, his Ed Lover Experience program on classic hip-hop outlets in Chicago, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Seattle, and C'Mon Son! The Podcast. His catchphrase C'mon Son, a joking way to flag questionable pop culture behavior, fueled his YouTube commentary and became a recurring bit in which he raised a cardboard sign with those words. He has made cameo appearances on television and in movies, among them a recurring part on the USA Network series Psych, which turned the phrase into one of its running jokes. At a Nas concert in 1996 he was the first to announce Tupac Shakur's death.
