Bruce Malmuth

Bruce Malmuth was an American director who worked largely in action and thriller films and television. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he started out making documentaries during his service with the U.S. Army Signal Corps, then directed New York Yankee games for WPIX radio before moving into film and television. He won multiple Clio Awards for commercial work, and his feature debut was Fore Play, a sex comedy he co-directed with John G. Avildsen and others. Avildsen recommended him to Sylvester Stallone, who hired him for Nighthawks (1981), an action thriller starring Stallone and Billy Dee Williams. He went on to direct the 3D comedy The Man Who Wasn't There (1983), Hard to Kill (1990), the Steven Seagal vehicle that was a commercial success, and Pentathlon (1994), his last film. He also directed episodes of The Twilight Zone and Beauty and the Beast, and acted as a ring announcer in The Karate Kid, Part II (1986).
