Alessandro Demcenko

Alessandro was born in Rome. At the age of six he started studying the violin, until, at the age of sixteen, he began playing basketball. It was not the most favorable sport for the hands of a professional violin player and not what his family wanted. Alessandro was not the best student at school - often missing time spent outside and in nature. He was raised by a tough mother who is a fairly well known painter and art teacher at several universities of the 'Buon Fresco' Fine Art. He ended his studies in Milan in 1996 with a Bachelor Degree in Art Direction and Design. During that period he started featuring in many Tv Commercials in order to make a better living, far away from home, with little money in his pocket. One such commercial was 'Opel Tigra', which gained a prize in Cannes in 1997 and led to a commitment for a theatre job in 'Corpus Christi', in Rome directed by Enrico Maria La Manna, a well renowned director of Italian Theatre. Alessandro played the role of Bartholomew on stage at 'Teatro Belli' for two seasons. It was then that Alessandro realized that his interest was merging into a real profession, leading him on the road of his dreams. Meanwhile, he started studying with Michael Margotta, a well known coach and teacher who was Founding Artistic Director at the Actor's Centre - ROMA in Rome Italy (2005), and who had previously taught at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City during the 1990's. In 2002 Alessandro traveled around the world for almost a year, mainly in Australia and South East Asia, where in Cambodia he met an ex-child soldier from the Kymer Rouge time, who was working solely to clear his land from land-mines and helping the children, many of whom were orphans, and others harmed by such weapons. When Alessandro returned to Rome, his home town, he edited a Promo for a documentary entitled 'Akira - Mine Mission' which was given freely to Medici Senza Frontiere, Amnesty International and Emergency, and shown in the main hall of 'The University of La Sapienza' for these Organisations. Alessandro continued his acting studies with Michael Margotta and other teachers. He then followed Elizabeth Kemp's classes during the 'Festa del Cinema di Roma', and Giles Foreman and Dee Cannon in London. During the last ten years Alessandro has been working with several directors on TV movies and cinema. To name a few: John Kent Harrison, Maurizio Sciarra, Sabine Boss, Christian Dugay, Alberto Sironi, Matteo Revere, Elisabetta Marchetti and Michele Soavi. Alessandro is now writing his first screenplay for a feature film based on the story of Nicola Tesla. He presently divides his time between Madrid, London and Berlin.
