Plot summary
Rio de Janeiro draws expatriates from several countries who are after personal pleasure, social justice or a measure of self-fulfillment. A plastic surgeon is among them, along with the unconventional new ambassador of the United States to Brazil and a French couple who make films. Their searches are bungled, and their misadventures carry them through a city that shows them its high society and its favelas, crossing one another's paths as they go.
