Plot summary

Walter, twenty-four, is competing for a place on the national wrestling team in Iowa when his twin sister Annie is murdered. He goes back to his hometown to be with his mother Gloria and his niece, and takes a job at Mega Burger, wearing a chicken suit and offering samples to passersby. At his mother's therapy sessions he meets Linda, a wedding planner whose alcoholic husband was killed in a bar by a friend. Linda's son Clay is deaf and mute, misses his father, and carries anger toward the killer. Both households are waiting on jury verdicts, and Walter brings Clay into wrestling training.
