Plot summary
Ethan Reed is a struggling writer whose agent has just told him his latest novel is unrealistic. At a café he meets Jesse Young, a waitress whose outgoing manner charms him, and she agrees to a date. Shortly after he leaves, Troy Parker, a wealthy advertising executive, asks her out as well. As Ethan and Jesse keep seeing each other, he learns that she was married before and that the marriage ended when her ex-husband decided she was not right for him. Jesse takes her worries to her brother David and her uncle Logan rather than tell Ethan what she is holding back, while Ethan, who wants a family and dotes on his sister's children, keeps writing his new book.
