Plot summary
In 1990, a boat from Indonesia leaves men from Iraq and Cambodia on the coast of Western Australia, far from any road or town. The crew says a bus stop waits over the hill, for the trip to Perth. Most of the men walk to a pub in a small town and local police pick them up. Three stay free: Arun, Youssif and Ramelan, who share little besides bad luck and a wish to avoid arrest. They set out across the desert for Perth or Broome. An army reservist unit tracks them in a Land Rover, its soldiers distracted by ball games and music.
