Plot summary
Hiroko Watanabe lives in Kobe and mourns Itsuki Fujii, the fiancé she lost in a climbing accident. On the day of his memorial ceremony she opens his school yearbook and finds an address listed under his name in Otaru. She sends a letter there and receives an answer from a woman named Itsuki Fujii, who looks remarkably like her. The correspondent works at a public library and was a classmate of the dead man. Hiroko shows the letter to her friend Akiba.
