Plot summary
After graduating from Harvard Law School, Elle Woods is planning her wedding to Emmett and wants her Chihuahua, Bruiser, to meet his mother. She hires a detective, who traces the dog to C'est Magnifique, a cosmetics company that uses her in animal testing. Elle's law firm represents the company, and when she asks it to drop the client, the firm fires her. Elle leaves Boston for Washington, D.C., to work for Congresswoman Victoria Rudd and to push Bruiser's Bill, which would outlaw animal testing. She aims to be a voice for animals that cannot speak for themselves, and meets skepticism and the barriers of Washington politics.
