Plot summary
Strange dreams follow Smith, an eighteen-year-old film student who calls his sexuality undeclared. He arrives at college with Stella, his best friend since junior high, and shares a room with Thor, a straight surfer he wants. A note he finds names him the chosen son. At a party Stella takes up with Lorelei, a girl Smith knows from a dream, and a red-haired stranger who vomits on his shoe also looks familiar. In his sleep he and the red-haired girl are hunted by figures in animal masks. London, a British student, picks him up and wants nothing from him but sex. A nude beach brings him a married man named Hunter.
