Plot summary
Three children live along the Martapura river in Banjarmasin, and each wants a future their family has already ruled out. Arian's father, a former kuriding player, has decided his son will not learn the instrument. Kejora wants to become a doctor, but his father cannot forget a doctor he holds responsible for the death of his wife in childbirth. Bunga was born with cerebral palsy, and her well-off parents long ago put an end to any thought of her dancing. The three find someone who takes their side: their teacher, Sheila, who steers them toward the futures they have chosen.
