Plot summary
Unemployed and thirty, Jeff Thompkins lives in his mother's basement in Baton Rouge, waiting for the universe to tell him what to do with his life. When a caller asking for someone named Kevin dials his number by mistake, Jeff takes it as the sign he has been after. His mother, Sharon, sends him out for wood glue to fix a door shutter, and on the way he runs into his older brother Pat, who has just spotted his wife Linda across the street with another man. Jeff helps Pat follow the pair while still chasing the meaning of Kevin. At her office, Sharon gets a flirty message from a co-worker who calls himself her secret admirer, and with her friend Carol she tries to work out who he is.
