Plot summary
Howard, an artificial intelligence that appears as a round camera descending from the ceiling, runs the automated prison where Frank is being kept. A rotating disc in his cell manipulates his memories, and Howard probes them for a thumb drive holding the virus Frank used to sabotage a government operation. Howard keeps most of what he knows to himself. Frank relives the day he was taken again and again: waking with his dog, sitting with his father, who is dying on life support, and his final minutes at a coffee shop with Gabby, its owner, before two men fire at him from behind. Each replay lets him alter what happens.
