Plot summary

Pastor Dave Hill leads a group of Christian families who teach their children at home. An unannounced visit from a social services representative finds the lessons falling short of federal education standards, and the curriculum is judged non-compliant with the state. The parents are summoned to court, where they argue for the freedom to teach their own children in keeping with their faith. The judge rules for the state. The families and Reverend Dave choose to appeal, travel to Washington, D.C., and, with help from Congressman Daryl Smith, make their case before a congressional subcommittee, arguing that state oversight of what they teach infringes on parental rights and religious freedoms.
