Plot summary
Katie is a young teenager whose mother has died, and she has not been able to pull herself out of her depression. School no longer interests her. She has lost touch with her friends, and she has given up gymnastics. Summer finds her in that same low state. Her science teacher keeps a capuchin monkey named Gibby, and the teacher asks Katie to monkeysit the animal. Katie takes on the task for the summer, with Gibby in her care.
