Plot summary
Near the end of World War II, a Red Army reconnaissance team led by Novikov is sent into eastern Germany to knock out a German sniper nest. The task done, the squad picks up a distress call from Soviet soldiers that repeats without any reply to their questions, while the radio link to high command goes dead. The men doubt there are Soviet troops in the area, but Novikov orders them to investigate. Dimitri records the mission with a camera. Along the way they come upon strange bodies, a convent burned to the ground, and machinery; the trail ends at an abandoned church.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Frankenstein's Army (2013)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Director Richard Raaphorst accused Capcom's Resident Evil Village of plagiarism in 2021 over the design of the monster Sturm, a walking corpse attached to a plane propeller that resembles a monster in Frankenstein's Army, though he said he did not expect royalties.
- Although the film used CGI, most of the effects were practical: stuntmen were set on fire for real. Raaphorst said he deliberately relied on practical effects and avoided heavy CGI to create a more physical, traditional monster film.
