Plot summary
Emmanuèle Bernheim rushes to the hospital after her father André, 85, suffers a stroke that leaves him sick and half-paralyzed in his bed. A domineering man who was constantly critical of her when she was a girl, he asks her to help him end his life, and she feels he is bullying her once more. Because France does not permit it, she approaches a Swiss clinic that performs such procedures. When she meets a member of its staff, the woman stresses that André would have to drink the lethal dose himself. The clinic can prepare it, but it will not actively kill him.
