Plot summary
Alex Stillman studies law and dislikes his job as a junior clerk in his father's firm; poker is his escape. In a televised online tournament he reaches the final table and is knocked out first by Karen "The Razor" Jones. Retired player Tommy Vinson watches the broadcast, thinks Alex has potential, and tracks him down at a cash game. Alex calls him, spends a few days studying videotapes of old players and learning about tells, then accepts a deal: Tommy stakes him and takes half of what he wins, because he himself has not played in twenty years. The two head to Las Vegas for a high-stakes cash game.
