Plot summary
Letters between Gina and Seth began as handwritten notes and turned into email over thirteen years. Neither has given the other a phone number, and each has sent a photograph of a more outgoing best friend, Ellen and Matt, claiming it shows themselves. Gina writes obituaries at a newspaper, while Seth is a junior executive at a toy company. Both have fallen for the other without saying so. Seth is traveling to Boston just before Christmas for a toy convention, and Gina has been handed her first real reporting assignment: covering that same convention. She tells Seth she knows he is coming but keeps her assignment to herself. The two agree that Ellen and Matt will meet in their place.
