Plot summary
Hungary in 1956 is under Soviet rule, and more of its people want independence. Karcsi Szabó is a university athlete in Budapest and has been named captain of the national water polo team going to the Olympics in Australia. He and his friend Tibi watch a demonstration led by Viki Falk that calls for an end to Soviet rule. He is drawn at first to her looks rather than her message and tries to win her over, and those efforts awaken him to the need for revolution.
