Plot summary
Boyd has an uncanny gift for the Japanese language. He wants to make his way in the world of Japanese business, but he stays mostly on the outside looking in. His housemate Jerome, a Japanese American, has never felt fully at home in either culture, out of step with the American side of his life and with the Japanese side alike. In a world where identity is not always what it appears to be, the two of them struggle to find their place. Jerome wants to become a sumo wrestler, and his weight and his blood pressure block the way.
