Plot summary
Nancy Archer, heiress to a fortune of about $50 million, is driving through the California desert at night when a glowing sphere settles on the road in front of her and a huge creature steps out and reaches for her. She escapes and reports what happened, but the sheriff and the townspeople treat the story as more evidence of her drinking and emotional troubles. Her husband Harry, who has been keeping company with Honey Parker at Tony's Bar and Grill, plays the attentive spouse while he waits for her to be committed so that he can control her estate. Nancy talks Harry into driving out with her to search the desert for the satellite, promising to go back to the sanatorium if they find nothing.

- Filmmaker Jim Wynorski planned a mid-1980s remake with Sybil Danning as the title role and got as far as shooting a photo session of her dressed as the 50-foot woman, but made Not of This Earth (1988) instead, so the project never happened.
