Plot summary

Ali is seventeen and lives in Jakarta when his father Hasan dies of a heart attack. His mother Mia went to New York when Ali was five, and he believed she had died. He finds letters, postcards and a plane ticket to visit her that Hasan hid from him. His aunt Suci gives him two weeks. At the Queens apartment where Mia once stayed he meets her friend Party, a cleaner, who shares it with Biyah, a paparazzi, Ance, a single mother, and Chinta, a masseuse. For money, they agree to help him look for Mia, and they show him New York; Ali also helps them at their jobs so they can save ten thousand dollars for an Indonesian restaurant. He has a crush on Ance's daughter Eva.
