Plot summary
In Dublin, the grown Owens sisters hold different views of romance. Lucy, the youngest, sings and waits tables at a local bar and has just broken up with her boyfriend Simon, an aspiring stand-up comic. Laura, an academic, studies the romances of literature and would rather be alone than settle for a love without passion. Alice, the eldest, is married to Martin and raising a baby daughter, Jean. Their brother David is in a stalled relationship with his girlfriend Karen. Adam, a photographer and gallery owner, meets Lucy at the bar and becomes part of the Owens household. Their mother, Peggy, does not much like Martin and would gladly have Adam in the family.
