Plot summary
Paz, who works as a maid in a wealthy household, slips kitchen scraps to her boyfriend Cantinflas, a fast-talking vagabond. When the family's prized dog turns rabid one evening, Paz refuses him food until he gets rid of the animal, and he shoots it. The household's owner, Cayetano Lastre, catches Cantinflas hiding in the shadows. To hide a visitor of her own from her jealous husband, Cayetano's wife Dolores presents the vagabond as Leonardo, her brother lost years ago. Cayetano's businesses are secretly facing bankruptcy, and the family inheritance is paid out only when all the brothers are gathered, so he pampers Cantinflas like royalty, and the vagabond plays along.
