Plot summary

Over the decade from the mid-1950s into the 1960s, William Castle turned out horror pictures that were modestly budgeted but drew paying crowds, among them Macabre, House on Haunted Hill, Homicidal and many others. Each release carried a gimmick or a stunt. Nurses stood on duty in the lobby in case a viewer needed medical help, and the audience was handed a thousand-dollar insurance policy against dying of fright. Producing Rosemary's Baby was his greatest success. People who knew and worked with him recall his methods and speak of him fondly. The documentary premiered at AFI Fest, where it took the audience award for best documentary.
