Plot summary
After Sanggyeong, the capital of Balhae, falls in 926, the Dongdan Kingdom unleashes the Chucksaldan, the Killer Blade Army, against the one remaining member of the royal family, the exiled prince Jeong-hyun. Balhae's prime minister, Lim Sun-ji, answers by sending Yeon So-ha, the kingdom's finest swordswoman and bearer of the shadowless sword, to reach the prince ahead of them and bring him home safely. Jeong-hyun has lived in a small village since his exile fourteen years earlier, forgotten by his people, and he is reluctant to come and fight for a throne he was driven from. The Chucksaldan and the criminal underworld hunt the pair as they travel, and among the fighters sent after So-ha is the assassin Mae Yung-ok.
