Plot summary
Women are found dead across Italy with half-moon lockets left near them, and police name the unknown attacker the Half-Moon Killer. Giulia Torresi survives an assault in a train compartment while traveling with the clothing designer Mario Gerosa. Inspector Vismara keeps her survival quiet and stages a funeral to make the killer believe she is dead; Giulia cannot recall her attacker's face. Mario begins to study the earlier victims and learns that six had stayed at the hotel where Giulia once worked. He and Giulia set out to warn the women on the list before the killer can reach them.

- Composer Riz Ortolani's score for Seven Blood-Stained Orchids borrows liberally from his own earlier scores, specifically those for So Sweet...So Perverse and Perversion Story, recycling old material instead of writing fresh music.
- German actress Uschi Glas only appears in the film because the German co-producers imposed her, and they sold Seven Blood-Stained Orchids as both a krimi film and an Edgar Wallace adaptation.
