Jin-mo Ju
Biography
Jin-mo Ju is a South Korean actor who entered the profession through modeling, after a 1997 Bacchus Energy Drink commercial in which the director moved him from extra to lead and praised his voice. He trained with a theater company, starting with backstage work, and made his film debut in 1999 with the lead in Dance Dance. The erotic thriller Happy End (1999) paired him with Min-sik Choi and Do-yeon Jeon, made him a star, and won him the Grand Bell Award for best supporting actor; the mini-series Sad Temptation brought a Baeksang Arts Awards best new actor nomination. Later came Real Fiction, Kim Ki Duk's experimental film, the big budget historical action The Warrior (2001), Wanee & Junah (2001) and television series including Punch and Fashion 70's. The comedy 200 Pounds Beauty (2006) became a box office hit, and A Frozen Flower (2008) earned him best actor at the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards.
