Ilya Lagutenko was brought up at the end of the Trans-Siberian railway in Vladivostok. "People there do have this feeling that they live on the edge of the world". He had his first addictive taste of touring as a child in a proper propaganda-style Soviet choir, singing songs about Lenin in Siberian factories. After serving in the Red Navy, he moved to London and flung himself into Camden Town at Brit-pop's height. It was here that Lagutenko formed his band Mumiy Troll. His first album Morskaya went to number one in Russia. Now, some 10 albums and 100 million downloads later, his very unique journey continues to spawn some wonderful insights into his world with his songs. Mumiy Troll have recently played sold out tours in the USA, UK, mainland Europe, Russia and the Far East. In 2013 the band's 11th album, being recorded with both English and Russian versions (Ilya being fluent in English and Manderin), is in production in LA, UK and mainland Europe, and being recorded in-between the bands relentless world touring schedule.
