Helen Walker

Biography

Helen Walker was an American actress who started on the stage in local stock theater before appearing on Broadway as Lisa Otis in Jason (1942). She made her film debut in Lucky Jordan (1942), a comedy with Alan Ladd, and became known for leading roles in comedies, often playing a straight man to comic leads in Brewster's Millions (1945) and Murder, He Says (1945). Her later credits included the duplicitous psychoanalyst in Nightmare Alley (1947), Call Northside 777 (1948) opposite James Stewart, My Dear Secretary (1948) opposite Kirk Douglas, and Impact (1949) opposite Brian Donlevy. After starring in My True Story (1951), she appeared in Problem Girls (1953), then made her final film appearance in The Big Combo (1955) with Cornel Wilde and retired from acting that year.
