Plot summary
Caroline Wilson is a chef at a New York restaurant when word arrives that her Aunt Doreen has left her the Seagull Cafe in Lemon Myrtle Cove, Australia. She leaves her job and her ex-fiancé, Nathaniel, behind and flies there to arrange a sale. The cafe is busy and well liked, and the people who run it fear a new owner will change its character; they ask Simon Cook, its head chef, to hold up the repairs the sale needs and to persuade Caroline to keep the place. An offer to buy is already on the table, and Caroline spends her days at the cafe, warming to the town and to Simon.
