Plot summary
Simon Watterman is a space archaeologist who finds a Munchie in a cave in Peru and takes the creature home to the United States. His son Paul and Paul's girlfriend Cindy name it Arnold. Cecil Watterman, Simon's evil twin brother and a snack food entrepreneur, kidnaps Arnold while Paul and Cindy are making out. When the kidnappers hurt Arnold, the creature turns aggressive.

- Tina Hirsch had edited three Roger Corman films in the 1970s and told him in the mid-1980s that she wanted to direct. Corman wanted a knock-off of Gremlins, which Hirsch had edited and which was profitable at the time, so it seemed a good fit.
