Plot summary

Eo Woo-dong belongs to a noble family in fifteenth-century Korea and makes her name as a dancer, writer, artist and poet. She is known for her beauty, her singing, her poetry, her quick wit and her intellect, though few of her writings survive. She marries Yi-dong, prince Taegang, a great-grandson of Joseon Taejong, and the fantasy figure Moo-gong becomes the third point of that marriage. Adultery charges are brought against her. The story sits in the early decades of the Joseon Dynasty and follows the contradictions in the lives of the elite, a criticism aimed at present-day Korean society. Her life has taken on a myth-like quality, feeding novels, films, television series and opera.
