Plot summary
Jay Trotter and his friend Looney drive cabs, and Looney uses a hidden microphone to record his passengers. One tape catches two men discussing an upcoming race and a horse that, through the unethical practices of its owner and trainer, is certain to win. Trotter and Looney take the tip to the track, even though Trotter has told his wife Pam that he is done with betting. In the restroom of a bar next to the track, he asks for one big day, and a stranger tells him to let it ride. He wagers $50 on the horse from the tape, and it pays $28.40 to win. He returns the tape to the two men, who reward him with a tip for the next race, and he puts a large bet down and wins again.
