Plot summary
In 1960s South Korea, the emerging politician Kim Woon-beom notices the determination and unconventional thinking of Seo Chang-dae, who is running a pharmacy for now and has political ambitions of his own. Kim takes him on as an aide. Seo proves to be a skilled strategist: Kim wins a seat in the National Assembly for Mokpo even though the government interferes in the race and bribes voters. After that victory, government officials try to recruit Seo, and he turns them down. Kim and Seo are out to resist the dictatorial ruling party in power, but Seo holds that politics sometimes requires unjustified means, while Kim insists such methods are not real politics.
