Plot summary
Jake Wilkinson has spent no holidays in Larchmont, New York since his mother died and his father remarried ten months later. Days before Christmas Eve, his father offers him a vintage 1957 Porsche if he comes home for Christmas dinner. Jake has traded his plane ticket east for two seats to Cabo San Lucas, but his girlfriend Allie Henderson refuses that trip and agrees to travel to New York with him instead. Jake helps three jocks cheat on a midterm exam, and their comrade Eddie Taffet, his rival for Allie, ruins the scheme. Eddie and the jocks dump Jake in the desert wearing a Santa suit, hat and beard stuck to him, with no money and no identification. Allie, unable to find him, accepts a ride from Eddie.
