Plot summary
Cameras travel with the crew of the Space Shuttle Atlantis on the final servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope, maintaining and upgrading the observatory in orbit. On an earlier servicing flight, an IMAX camera had gone up as well; the one carried on this mission holds a mile of film, enough for eight and a half minutes of footage. Seven astronauts work at the telescope, and technicians turn its data into two extended fly-throughs that put viewers inside those images. One of them crosses a cloud canyon in the Orion Nebula, where million-mile-an-hour stellar winds blow; the telescope's own pictures lead past the Helix Nebula, the Pillars of Creation, the Andromeda Galaxy and the Butterfly Nebula.
