Plot summary
John Gotti earns well for a small crew inside the Gambino crime family and is close to the underboss, Neil Dellacroce. Longtime friend Angelo Ruggiero is part of his crew, and Salvatore "Sammy the Bull" Gravano is a fellow mobster in the family. After Carlo Gambino dies, Paul Castellano takes over the family, a choice that does not sit well with Gotti or the men around him. Gotti's crew keeps working under Castellano, and his own standing grows. He served prison time after the murder of James McBratney in 1973 and came back as a captain. Federal prosecutors build racketeering cases against him, and his courtroom appearances draw heavy media attention.
