Plot summary
Zoologist Nina is sure the thylacine, or Tasmanian tiger, still lives in the island's wilderness. Her proof is a paw print her sister photographed in a remote area before her body was found in the Pieman River years earlier. Unable to raise money for an expedition, Nina relies on her boyfriend Matt, whose old friend Jack agrees to finance the trip and brings his girlfriend Rebecca, eager for a break from her real estate job. On the island, a child on the boat recites a rhyme and bites Matt's hand, and the group spends a night in a motel beside a meat pie factory. Camped in a cave after a day on the river, Nina glimpses a tiger in the forest and rushes for her camera.
