Georgetown University is where Melanie Porter hopes to enroll, 800 miles from the quiet Chicago suburb where her family lives. Her father, James, is the police chief there and would rather she attend Northwestern University, 28 minutes away. A college recruiter sees Melanie perform at a mock trial, and Georgetown invites her to an interview. Her friends Nancy and Katie are driving to Pittsburgh and ask her to come along.
