Plot summary
Luis Buñuel is among the first filmmakers to carry surrealism into cinema, with An Andalusian Dog and The Golden Age. After The Golden Age he wants to put the movement behind him, yet references to its ideas keep appearing in the films he makes in Mexico and afterward in France and Spain. The principles he took up in childhood, and dreams in particular, remain pillars of his work. His films sit alongside the paths taken by writers, painters and playwrights, much as Goya's paintings do. The documentary follows his development as a creator and opens his work to viewers who are meeting it for the first time, and its provocation remains.
