Plot summary
Anselmo is the mayor of Villaviciosa de al Lado, a town that depends on a two-hundred-year-old spa, and the council's debts may shut it down while residents move away. He and his fellow councilors Ricardo, César, Juandi and Paco think a Christmas Lottery win has rescued them, then learn the winning ticket came from the town's brothel. Mari, who runs it, says on television that the town's men are holding the prize, and the wives grow suspicious. To collect the money without facing them, the men plan to take it from the brothel. Mari also wants to rebuild her life and the memory of her father, a former mayor fired when she became pregnant as a teenager.
