Product Description
Samantha is a suburban mom who makes a killer lemon meringue pie. Charly is a covert op who kills. They’re both the same person. Both may be as good as dead. Geena Davis stars as a woman whose fading amnesia reveals her secret life as an elite government assassin, and Samuel L. Jackson portrays the low-rent detective helping her unlock her memory, all while rogue agents scramble to bury Samantha/Charly and her past. Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2) directs and Shane Black (Lethal Weapon) scripts a full-tilt wallop of breakneck action. Nonstop excitement – sealed with a kiss!

I don't understand why a film like this with a start like Jackson is not more well known. I am looking for other films directed by Black, who is obviously brilliant. (He directed but also did some of the writing.)
Mostly, Jackson's lines are pure gold in this one and he rolls off the one liners with aplomb. Reminds me of The Last Boy Scout in many ways with its clever dialogue, though, some of it can get a little janky. Shane Black wrote both of them as well the first two Lethal Weapon films. You can tell he works on his the screenplay quite a bit for the actors personally, but it's also hard to pull off some of the stuff in a realistic way.
A few of the gunfights are a little underwhelming. Some of the bad guys are a little overdramatic and don't shoot as well as you might think. Maybe some of it is a little corny, though, it's always in good fun. This isn't a fully realistic action film and it never tries to be. It could stand for a tad more realism here and there but nothing is perfect. And let's be honest: if this film took itself too seriously it would end up in the trash heap because the comedy wouldn't work as it does. The jokes are still lively if you are into some dirty humor and the action sequences are pretty amazing still today. The duo here have a lot of great synergy together, which in the end makes any flaws disappear.
Overall, this is how action-comedies should be made. We rarely get anything even remotely resembling these fun pictures anymore. And if we do they have terrible scripting and much worse acting. I think people like this film because well it's a damn good experience. Get some popcorn out and enjoy the ride. The Bluray retains its grain structure and has a pretty decent definition. Totally recommended.

This is one of those surprise movies, if you’re used to seeing Geena Davis in soft comedy rolls then this surprises as she plays a female version of Bruce Willis to good effect. Violent, sadistic and laced with dark humour and some really funny lines, this film noir has something for everyone. Jackson is convincing as the seedy ex con sleuth who thinks he’s hit the jackpot, without realising what he’s got himself into.
The single disc loads to main menu offering play, scene selection, special features [making of, trailer, stunt scenes] and subtitles [on/off]. There’s never a dull moment in this , even when they are leading you into the basic plot. There’s plenty of swearing, crude comments, the obligatory shower scene and sexist behaviour so it’s an obvious 18 rating and makes a excellent ***** alternative Xmas movie.
